Lira City is home to Akii-Bua Stadium, named in honour of Uganda’s Olympic legend John Akii-Bua. The stadium is being upgraded to meet international competition standards and will serve as the primary venue for AFCON 2027 matches in Northern Uganda. Supporting training grounds and community sports facilities further strengthen the city’s event-hosting capacity.
